SEL's Adventures: Wall Street to the Bronx

I started out the day on Wall Street for the Ryder Cup Captain's picks press conference. And no, I don't remember the picks. But I did get a pin. And a plaque with my name on it for the closing bell ceremony at the end of the day.

Tonight, we ventured to the Bronx to watch Corey throw the first pitch at the Yankees game.

But my view was blocked by this sitting on my legs and bouncing around the seats.

But that's ok because she was the happiest little clam at the ball park and kept us all entertained well into our departure during the 7th inning stretch.

I'm bummed to go back to work tomorrow. I'm sad to leave behind my little shadow. I can't believe my relaxing weekend of spa treatments, playgrounds and carnivals is over. The good news is that there's only three work days until the weekend! Thanks heavens for small favors.

How many manicurists does it take to paint a toddler's nails?

Not 1.

Not 2.

3!!

They painted teeny, tiny hearts on her fingers and flowers on her toes.

And all for the bargain price of $10. How much did my pedicure that took 1/4 as much time cost? A whopping $18!

The Many Mannequins of Barney's New York

I made some new friends today.

Unfortunately they weren't very talkative.

SEL's (2nd) trip to Victorian Gardens

For those of you who don't remember, I had a great visit to Victorian Gardens over the 4th of July holiday. Well, the same little two year old sweetie is back this weekend and we returned to the carnival today (my idea, not her's!). Since her dad was with us, I once again got the chance to do a few rides myself.

I have to admit that the views from the tops of some of the rides are really incredible. It's a great way to see the skyline: if you're not prone to motion sickness, scared of heights or weary of rickety carnival rides!

Waiting for Earl

I left the house this morning ready for Earl.

By day's end, I looked like an idiot. There was no rain, no wind and certainly no hurricane. It appears that despite his numerous threats, he read my letter and heeded my warning. Earl did not make an appearance in NYC, Lisa and baby Alexis' plane made it in (early!) and we saw a gorgeous sunset on the way home tonight! Thank heavens for this 4 day weekend ahead. I feel more relaxed already.

A Letter to Earl

Dear Earl,

You are not on my list of welcome visitors this weekend. Please take your rain and gusty winds and head east. I have some fun friends headed in tomorrow afternoon and it sounds like you are going to try to stop them. Actually, according to NBC News, it sounds like you are going to try to halt all activity in the tri-state area tomorrow: trains have already been canceled, island vacations have been advised against and boats have all been docked. After a summer of beastly heat, don't you think we deserve a bit of a break on this last weekend? Please go easy on us.

Love,
SEL

Would it be weird...

...if I swiped this chair and brought it to work?

Maybe if I did, and told people I pulled it in off the street, they'd stop taking my chair!!
